Medical Physics Equipment Performance Evaluations
Medical Physics Equipment Performance Evaluations (EPEs) are performed to ensure your medical imaging equipment is operating as it was designed. For radiation-producing devices, EPEs are required in most states following equipment installation, modification, or annually and serve to ensure the radiation exposure to your patients meets the required state limits. For facilities accredited by the ACR, IAC, or RadSite, EPEs are an annual requirement and extend beyond radiation-producing devices. These accreditation bodies require EPEs of CT scanners, MRI equipment, ultrasound equipment, gamma cameras, and PET scanners.
