Mammography Continuing Education and Experience

Update Frequency:  Initially and every year (prior to MQSA inspection)

The FDA requires that each medical physicist who performs medical physics services at your facility earn at least 15 continuing education units in mammography in the prior 36-month period AND that at least two mammography facilities and six mammography units are surveyed in the prior 24-month period.

Medical Physicist Qualifications Form - ACR

Update Frequency:  Initially and every three years (when applying for and renewing accreditation)

The American College of Radiology (ACR) must verify that each medical physicist who provides medical physics services at your facility meets the FDA requirements. This verification is accomplished through the submission of the "Medical Physicist Qualifications" form to the ACR when undergoing accreditation or upon request.

Medical Physicist Qualifications Documentation

Update Frequency:  Initially (maintain indefinitely)

You are required to maintain the documentation which shows each medical physicist who provides medical physics services at your facility meets FDA requirements. With the exception of continuing education and experience, this documentation rarely changes and will only need to be updated if training in a new mammography imaging modality is obtained.

Click here to access the documentation which shows that Austin E. Rocker meets the FDA requirements to perform medical physics services for mammography.

Board Certifications and Licenses

Update Frequency:  As Needed

Austin Rocker is board certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Medical Physics and Nuclear Medical Physics.  These board certifications have no expiration, and their validity is contingent on participation in the ABR Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.

Click here to view the most recent verification of participation in the MOC program.  Alternatively, participation in the MOC program may be verified by visiting the American Board of Radiology verification of certification webpage.

The states of Florida, New York, and Texas require licensure for the practice of medical physics.  Austin Rocker provides Diagnostic Medical Physics and Nuclear Medical Physics services in the states of Florida and Texas.  Click here to view the current license for the state of Florida.  Click here to view the current license for the state of Texas.

Equipment Calibration Certification

Update Frequency:  Upon Request

The FDA requires that the equipment utilized by the medical physicist to measure kVp, half value layer, radiation output, and radiation output rate be calibrated every 24 months.
